Sewing of draperies requires at minimum 4 basic machines, tables to lay out and fold, steamer and irons, and measuring and cutting equipment.
1) A basic single needle machine. All straight stitching and first operation on the pleats.
2) A 4 thread mock safety stitch machine for the seams. Machine like Juki MO-6714S will quickly make the seams and the stitch type will allow the drapery to hang without puckers.
3) A blindstich machine for the hemming
4) A tacking machine to make the pinched pleats
Optional machines that can increase production are an automatic pleat sewer and a end closing machine. There are mechanical and electronic types available. The older mechanical type can require more service then other machines and an experienced source to perform repairs.
